Amazon Alexa saved my life. Well, to be a bit more clear Amazon Alexa called the man who saved my life. I thank "her" everyday and would thank him more often if he were a bit closer!

The first thing I asked, “Alexa, call 911″…. how many people do you think have tried this as well and gotten the same defeated response of “I’m sorry, I can’t help you with that”. WTH?? But it’s true. It’s an FCC regulation. Our gov’t requires that anyone contacting 911 needs to have a phone number associated for return calls. Until now Alexa doesn’t have her own dedicated phone number. And even though she is blue-toothed to your smart phone, she doesn’t have the ability to share your cell number.
What you CAN do with your cellphone is blue-tooth it with Amazon Echo (Alexa) so the device will be aware of your contact list and can call with a voice command. This is what I was doing from my couch over and over again.
There is now a solution for Echo to call 911
Amazon has put out a product call Echo Connect. It sits between your landline and your landline phone, plus is connected to your home wireless network then allowing all Amazon Echo’s in your home to have the ability to contact 911 on your behalf.
Highly recommend to set this up and have the feature at the ready – never know when it will save your life.
